New Traditions?

I had a great time Friday night. Chef Mani's was awesome and the play, RECKLESS at The Warehouse was the best I've seen in some time (still like FROZEN better, though).

I've been at this job for almost a year and a half. Slowly, surely I'm finding my footing. Settling into a production schedule, figuring out my classes (what to teach when, and how), getting used to working in a public high school. I've had mostly good times. I like my job quite a bit.

Which brings me to traditions. I want MANN SHOW to have its own collection of very special traditions. One is the Spring Show. Always action-adventure, always bigger, always better. Another might be an annual Christmas party and play like Friday night. One may be (if any of you would bring me stuff) screen printing the MANN SHOW mark on your clothes. Another is how you call me "Coach White"...that is until you graduate, when I become "Chris" to you.

Well, we're moving into a new school in just a few weeks. This is the time for all of us to dream up new traditions. Traditions that will stand the test of time and be unique to our new theater space and classroom.

What do you think? Any ideas for new school MANN SHOW traditions?

Certainly, seniors passing the torch is something that should stay. Only problem with that is, you won't really have that many seniors next year, will you? Or they'll be like me, newcomers to the game.

Actually, I guess you will have about as many as you do this year...Never mind.

Anyway, because Ashley will say it very soon, we ought to have a screenning of Once. Maybe annual screennings of the best movies of the year? Even though Mann Show's about theater, it seems like the drama and film crit classes are similar on a certain level, so why not incorporate movie-going into it?

I think the Christmas Party should stay for sure. That was awesome.

The Dining Room was alot of fun. I don't know if you plan on making that really intense, intimate, in your face stuff kind of thing a tradition for the fall play.

Some other stuff we might think about would be hanging signed pictures in the green room of the departed seniors. like they could be nominated by lowerclassman or mannshow members or something.

Or maybe finding some piece of the Hispanola bow from Treasure Island that we could always find a way of reusing in the spring production set.

idk. theres alot of things we could do.

Every incoming freshman has to smell the crutch.

I agree with Brandon(lemmywinks) that we should have movie showings, maybe towards the school year as a summer break party or something.

Dude. That crutch is absolutely revolting. But it must stay in the corner of whatever office you are now located in.

I think there should be some type of game that is invented by the spring cast to play.

And as far as that goes....Cone-ing has been claimed kids. So pick something else. I've taught this art to the theater department of College of Charleston and there's nothing that can be done to stop it. Le harharhar.

.......Ummm......on a serious note....which there never is in my case....I definately think Bethany and I need to have our faces on the walls of the Drama area. Cause we were the first and the best. And that's the end of that, yo.
